Blackwood is an area of Cumbernauld, a Scottish New town. The first parts were constructed in approximately 1995 and is one of the northernmost points of Cumbernauld.
Blackwood is near to Broadwood Stadium, home of Clyde Football Club, and the man-made loch, Broadwood Loch.
Often criticised by its own residents, Blackwood has no local shops and reasonably poor public transport links, apart from the nearby Croy railway station. Additionally, electrical pylons run through this area and are known to look unsightly.
Plans were announced to build hundreds of new homes in the area around Blackwood near Broadwood Stadium. It is unclear as to whether they will be included in Blackwood or if a new area will be created and named Broadwood.
