Aerial Shot Takeoff Birmingham International Airport 2008 - Chelmsley Wood, Marston Green, Fordbridge, Bacon's End, Hams Hall & Coleshill

Part of the Chelmsley Wood complex. Bottom-left is Fordbridge. Top-left is Bacon's end. Centre-right is Chelmsley and top-right is Chelmunds Cross. The M6 & M42 run across the top of the photo. Looking north-east towards Coleshill.

Fordbridge is an overspill housing estate for Birmingham in the Chelmsley Wood complex. It is situated to the far-east of Birmingham in north Solihull. It was the first estate to be approved for construction in Chelmsley Wood and was built in 1966. Three of its nine tower blocks were demolished in the mid-late-1990s in Perth Avenue to make way for modern low-rise houses.

Fordbridge borders Tile Cross, Chelmsley, Bacon's End and Kingshurst Hall Estate. The road layout and housing on the estate is in a grid format similar to the design of Castle Vale a few miles north.
