Possilpark is a district in the north of Glasgow. It is bordered to the east by Springburn, to the west by Ruchill and Maryhill, to the north by Milton and to the south by Port Dundas. It is one of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK with an extremely high rate of poverty and squalor. Much of the areas housing stock was tenements built during the inter war period and the Victorian era. These had been neglected and poorly maintained. When demolition began on them in the late 1980s, many were in an illetable state. Because of the widespread demolition, much of Possilpark is wasteland in 2007.
